Neighborhood Email Service
The Mountain Valley subdivision uses the free GoogleGroups service to transmit emails to all residents and property owners who want to receive them. Only people who are subscribed to the system can send messages to our neighbors with this system.
- To send a message to your neighbors, address it to mountainvalleyneighborhood@googlegroups.com.
- Messages that you receive will always have a Subject line that begins with “[Mtn. Valley: #]” which is a sequential number and increments each time a message is sent. The system always adds two paragraphs at the bottom of every message. These have instructions on sending messages to the group and how to UnSubscribe.
- If you want to be added to the group (subscribed) send an email to MV Webmaster(s).
Guidelines and Etiquette
If you want to send a message to all of Mountain Valley please follow these guidelines.
- When replying to a Neighborhood emails – Please do not “Reply to All” unless it is a LIFE, HEALTH or SAFETY issue.
- Since we have new neighbors moving in regularly, please put your name and your street address (i.e. 200 MVD) on the bottom of your email.
- Try to watch your “netiquette” (internet etiquette). Before you hit send ask yourself if what you are sending is factual, is kind, is necessary, is helpful? If the answer is no to any of those, maybe what you are about to send should be left unsent. Please DON’T YELL AT PEOPLE (using all caps).
- In general, messages are to be used only to inform residents/property owners of community activities and issues.
- The message should be of general interest to many of the recipients and be related to the Mountain Valley Homeowner’s Association, Mountain Valley social functions, hazardous road conditions in the area, introduction of new residents, updates to the MV website/directory, death/birth announcements or health status of current or former neighbors.
- In addition, unusual situations such as a one-time call for emergency assistance for a resident or someone related to, or associated with a resident, are appropriate.
- Though occasional notices of items for sale, garage sales, Girl Scout cookie sales, and school fund raisers are permissible if promoted by residents only, such matters as on going solicitations, promotion of for-profit ventures or national charities are not appropriate.
- We prohibit messages that are political or religious in nature, jokes, viral videos and alike.
- The MV Board reserves the right to review and delete messages that are deemed abusive, inflammatory or otherwise inappropriate.
- Do not send multiple photos with high resolution or other files that would eat up data usage of cell data plans. Do not forward messages which display other people’s email addresses. Be respectful of your neighbors personal information.
